Things are a doozy lately. I really want to find some time to write up my thoughts on AI and the video games industry. All the latest news around Epic’s latest internal mandates, what Xbox is doing with its new “Labs” announcement, and just the general state of things leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I have a lot of thoughts and just need to get them out of my head at some point I think my brain might boil over if I do not do so soon.

I just saw Digger in theaters and I really do not know what to make of what I spent the last 2 hours of my life doing. I mean this in all ways, good and bad. A lot to digest here…

Accidentally hitting the “enter” key at the end of a job application form where there’s a free-text field to write in and it submits it half written instead of making a new line. *sobs*

Using Linux as my daily desktop OS is fun and all until you accidentally CTRL+C during a very important part of a system update and spend ~2+ hours figuring out how to repair some kernel level thing you absolutely broke. Oops.

Today I learned that my contract is finally coming to an end at my job. After a little over two and a half years, I’ll be unemployed going into the holidays and new year. While I am sad, I am also remaining hopeful and optimistic about the future and opportunities that lay ahead. To a degree, I am also grateful that this wasn’t a surprise; I knew it was coming and have been planning for it for quite some time. For now though, just going to focus on the immediate present and take it one day, one week, and one month at a time until I’m ready to focus on what’s next.

Xbox shifting IP + studios under Activision and Bethesda really seems like a way to give them both a bit more value so they can be sold off in a few years when you start to fully divest the Xbox brand. Really feel for everyone dealing with the aftermath of some gross levels of executives playing checkers.

One of the things that truly scratches an itch in my brain is keeping up with activity trackers for the media I consume. Movies, games, TV, you name it and I try to keep a log of it all. Another NFL Sunday, but this time the Patriots played and destroyed the Steelers. You love to see it! Plus, at least as of right now my fantasy team is winning and that just feels serendipitous.
